The glitz and glamour of the roaring twenties has captured many fashionistas imaginations and fashions turn to the sexual style of the 1920’s. For the costumes used in the film, designer Miuccia Prada worked with costumer designer Catherine Martin. They took inspiration from the Prada archives (why wouldn’t you it would be a gold mine) for the costumes they created.
You can find some great pieces which capture the Great Gatsby perfectly, the era and the glamour without looking like a fancy dress costume. The highstreet has really picked up on the popularity and hype of the movie; after all we all like a bit of glitz and glamour and have high aspirations (even if they may just be dreams).
Picking out key pieces is easy; flapper dresses (dropped waists), T-bar sandals, art deco jewels, plenty of lace and embellishment. Feather were of that time but can look a bit costume like so stick to simple fur stoles and silk wraps to cover up.
